Go Backpacking Around the World

It is becoming more and more common for people to go backpacking
around the world on extended trips, whether it is on gap years after school or as career breaks from work. The appeal of backpacking is obvious; it provides the opportunity to see incredible sights around the world on one trip, experiencing different cultures and meeting new, interesting people. Some people struggle with the idea that you have to ‘slum it’ on a backpacking trip, but that doesn’t have to be the case; there is excellent, good value accommodation increasingly popping up in these destinations that cater perfectly for backpackers, no matter what your budget. There’s also an amazing array of foods available which can be even more rewarding than your standard meals back home.

The main thing to remember is that you are there to see the world, and minor details like how soft your mattress is or sharing your shower with a stranger pale into insignificance when you are stood looking at the wonders of Machu Picchu in Peru or swimming in the hidden lagoon at Koh Phi Phi in Thailand. The best thing is that the longer you are on your trip the easier it gets to put up with negatives and the more you appreciate the positives.
